A few questions and answers….

  • Species are losing habitat. Conservation Imperatives represent the “Rarity Layer” of the Global Safety Net — a vision for biodiversity, cultural and climate thriving. If we protect the habitat of the Rare species on Earth, we prevent the most immediate extinctions.

  • This website is to connect people who want to fund the protection of Conservation Imperatives sites, with the conservation organizations on the ground. All funds go to the local-grantees, and Conserve.org covers the cost of the site research, diligence and administration.

  • Your donation funds the creation of a new Permanent Protected Area. This establishes the initial designation — such as an Indigenous Protected Area or a National or Regional Park. There is more to do after this is done, but this first step is critical.

  • A global map of “Conservation Imperatives” sites were published in Frontiers Journal in 2024. This is 1.2% of the planet’s land surface. The goal is to support locally-led conservation protection of these sites.
